Vote Match

I went to Vote Match to see which candidate seems to be in line with me on several issues.
The results?

1. Clinton
2. Kucinich
3. Obama

Now what?

I am not sure I want Clinton as President. She seems to me to be one of the "Washington Elitists". She is certain to keep the Iraq War going for years to come. And, that's a big issue for me.

I like Kucinich, but he has no chance of winning.
So, I am probably going to vote for Obama. I like the fact that he is young and different. This country definitely needs a new direction.

I know I won't vote for Clinton in the primary.

The general election, well, that's a different story. Anything can happen then.

"Friedliest" Laundromat

One of my friends looked at this ad the other night and exclaimed, "This place can do your laundry in two minutes? How can they do that?"
Then looking at it closer said, "Never mind."
She shouldn't feel bad. It reminded me of the time I was in the car with my sister, Cheryl.
There was an ad on the radio promoting midget car racing.
I asked Cheryl where she thought they got all the midgets to drive the cars.
"It's midget cars, not midgets driving the cars, you idiot."
She still won't let me forget that one.

Irene & Roxana

My Grandma and my sister were both born in December.
My Grandma's birthday was on December 12 and Roxana's is today.
I have no idea how old Roxie is. She keeps it a guarded secret. This old photo shows how much she likes to talk about her age.
I suppose if I looked into it hard enough, I could probably find out how old she is today. But, then she'd have to kill me.
Anyway, I wish her a Happy 35th birthday. ;)

This is one of my favorite pictures of my Grandma.
I miss her so much.
Especially during this time of the year

Tapes? What Tapes??

The CIA has destroyed two videotapes documenting the interrogation of two Al Qaeda operatives. They did this in the middle of Congressional and legal scrutiny about the agency's secret interrogation techniques.

C.I.A. Director Gen. Michael Hayden said the decision to destroy the tapes was made to protect the the safety of the undercover officers and because they no longer had intelligence value.

Perhaps they were destroyed because the C.I.A. knew it was engaging in illegal torture.

Perhaps they were destroyed because the Bush Administration would be in deep trouble if the tapes were shown to Congress.

Perhaps they were destroyed because if the American people really knew what their government was doing behind closed doors, they would be sickened.

Ron (Ru) Paul

Presidential candidate, Ron Paul was on "The View" earlier this week.
I know "The View" is not exactly "This Week With George Stephanopoulos" or "Meet the Press" (though one could argue after the Rosie O'Donnell fiasco, the show is a little like "Hardball").

But, they do have a lot of candidates on the show, even if they don't let them talk too much.
I posted about Mr. Paul a few months back.
In that post, I listed what I considered to be the pros and cons of Mr. Paul's political views.

I have said repeatedly, that I am looking for a presidential candidate who will end the war in Iraq.
I don't want the US to be there one moment longer.
I have heard only three candidates say they will immediately bring the troops home:

Democrat John Edwards, Democrat Dennis Kucinich and Republican Ron Paul.

These are my choices. I'd rather see a President Kucinich than a President Paul.
But, believe me.
I will vote for a Republican who is going to end this war if the alternative is a Democrat who will continue on the same path as GWB.
