6.1%

The news is out that the unemployment rate increased by 6.1% in August.

That's the highest level in 5 years.

Today, McCain stated, "Washington has failed to act" to improve the poor state of the economy.

Washington has failed to act.

George W. Bush has failed to act.

John McCain has voted with George W Bush a whopping 90% of the time.

No matter how hard he tries to distance himself from the president. It's just more of the same.

What about the house and senate? I've heard many liberals talking about how there's nothing being done there either, so they aren't happy with their own party's results. Both sides are the same. Oh yes, they may have 2 different platforms, but the ground those platforms sit on is still quick sand. cs

oh, I agree not much gets done in Congress. My only complaint here is that McCain is trying to sell the idea that he has a lot of plans for the economy. That is he is NOT the same as Bush. That the Democrats are trying to tell people he is just a third term for Bush .
But, when he votes with the president 90% of the time, it DOES look like a third Bush term.

You are sounded mighty cynical these days, CS. :)

Yes I am a bit cynical. I just don't get excited AT ALL by the hype of the conventions. I don't believe the 'change' message and I don't believe the "country first" message. Once anyone is in office, what they thought they could has to go through much red tape and time to happen. I don't want more of the same either, but just saying things will change is not convincing enough. I'm in a quandry as to what to do in November. I'm looking forward to the debates. cs
